QURBAN CAMPAIGNS
What is Qurban?
Practised by the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) as a commemoration of the Prophet Abraham's great act of faith, qurban is one of the most important rituals of Islam.
Even though the practice of qurban began in the time of Prophet Adam (pbuh), particular significance is brought to practice through the Prophet Abraham (pbuh) when he was willing to sacrifice his beloved son Ismael for God many centuries ago.
Performed annually during the three days of the Eid ul Adha (on the 10th, 11th and 12th of the Islamic month of Zilhijjah), the primary objective of the qurban is to remind of the spirit of self-sacrifice shown by the Prophet Abraham (pbuh) and to submit oneself to the will of God.
While it is compulsory for all able muslims to perform this act of faith, social aspect of the qurban distribution is to feed the poor and needy with meat of the animals sacrificed on a yearly basis.
What does Feza Foundation do for Qurban?
As a great way of showing consideration for those who are suffering poverty, famine, drought, natural disasters and regional conflicts around the world, Feza Foundation has been conducting qurban collection campaigns on an annual basis since 1996.
Thanks to generosity of the Australian public and uncompromising efforts of our volunteers, annual number of qurbans collected quadrupled over the past decade and an estimated half a million people were provided qurban meat through our campaigns.
On the receiving end, qurbans collected in Australia over the past decade, were distributed in the following countries of the world:

In addition to poor families, orphanages, mosques, hospitals, dormitories, correction centres, care facilities for HIV patients and villages where leprosy patients reside are among our distribution centres. It is also important to mention that our volunteers personally attend the entire qurban collection and distribution process by visiting regions of crisis.
In our campaigns, we practise local slaughter to contribute for the ongoing sustainability of that community. In order to do so, we purchase livestock locally to support local cattle farmers, slaughter qurban animals during the Eid ul Adha, distribute the qurban meat and its side products including skin and wool to the needy community in that region.
We wish to thank our contributors and volunteers who whole heartedly supported this sacred duty and make this campaign a success over the past years.
